APARTMENT TOWERS RENOVATION

The Manhattan Housing Authority Apartment Towers, a twelve story apartment complex, underwent a total renovation. The eighty-eight unit facility, designed for low-income tenants, is a reinforced concrete structure constructed in 1971 with limestone and concrete masonry veneer. The living units located on the second through the twelfth floors consist of five handicapped accessible apartments, fifty-two one-bedroom apartments and thirty-one efficiency apartments.
The renovation included:
  • Abatement of mold and asbestos containing materials.
  • Addition to mechanical room for new boiler system and cooling tower.
  • Replacement of fan-coil units in all apartments and offices.
  • Replacement of damaged partitions, floor coverings and wall finishes.
  • Replacement of deteriorated HVAC piping, kitchen and bathroom plumbing fixtures.
  • Installation of new kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities.
  • Installation of energy efficient windows and patio doors.
