COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Kansas State University - Manhattan, Kansas
167,000 Square Feet
Primarily funded by donors, the 167,000 square foot facility provides space for current needs as well as anticipated growth within the first ten years of use.
Anchoring the plan is a large, 4-story atrium designed to accommodate a variety of academic and social functions. The fourth floor includes an executive conference room with cherry panel walls, a large stone fireplace, and an exterior terrace overlooking the main campus. This new facility includes a multimedia lecture hall seating 250, tiered classrooms seating 80, and general classrooms seating 48. Specialty education suites for intense academic study are provided for entrepreneurship, financial research, salesmanship and management information systems. Faculty offices are distributed throughout the facility. Adjacent these offices are independent study rooms of varying size for semi-private use by small groups of students. This adjacency encourages student-faculty interaction.
The building is designed for both durability and maximum flexibility to meet future needs. Major corridor walls are covered in durable porcelain tile. The first floor atrium spaces have epoxy terrazzo flooring. The generous 16 foot floor to floor heights allow room for future reconfigurations of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology systems.
