BLUE EARTH PLACE

Mixed Use Building - Manhattan, Kansas
36,000 Square Feet
Blue Earth Place is a mixed use building prominently located at the intersection of 3rd Street and Fort Riley Boulevard in the South End Redevelopment District of downtown Manhattan. Its location on the south edge of a new park, Blue Earth Plaza, provides views of the park as well as the recently completed Flint Hills Discovery Center located on the north boundary of the park.
The first floor accommodates retail spaces and restaurants. The second floor is for offices, some with exterior terraces, and a water feature in the central public corridor. The third and fourth floors feature 1 and 2-bedroom upscale loft-style apartments with exterior terraces and balconies. Use of permanent materials - brick and stone masonry - and liberal window openings were key elements of the Downtown Redevelopment Guidelines.
The project received the Award of Honor in its category by the Association of General Contractors of Kansas. It also received a Bronze award in the Commercial Division National Brick in Architecture Competition.
