Unified School District 383 - Manhattan, Kansas
72,000 Square Feet
As part of a district $97.5 Million bond issue improvement plan, Lee Elementary was expanded to nearly double its current capacity of 275 students. Fourteen new general classrooms and a new 3,600 square feet library were included. Existing classrooms were remodeled, as were spaces for art, music, computer, and special education.
District-wide security goals are being achieved with a new entrance-office location and hardware systems. The entire building has been equipped with a fire sprinkler system and energy management controls.
The additions are steel framed with masonry exterior walls. Classrooms and corridors are carpeted. HVAC systems are designed for energy efficiency and include heat recovery/transfer equipment for fresh air intake.
