Manhattan & Ogden, Kansas
United School District 383
In the anticipation that the number of soldiers on post at Fort Riley would increase two-fold by 2016, a master plan was developed.  The number of soldiers with children and families was also growing, which put additional strain on the 383 District.  The enrollment projections over the same time span increased the number of students from Elementary to Senior High from 5,500 to 7,000 students.  The solution was to plan ahead and consider future growth projections.
The proposed improvement budgets were divided into three priorities.  Improvements for the school district were needed in these 4 areas:
  • Security and Life Safety
  • Maintenance and Repair
  • Enrollment Capacity
  • Program Enhancement
